A little less than 10 days left of what has been an amazing campaign so far, and we have had so much fun with you guys. Some cool stuff has happened since last update, and we’ll start with the cool(or)est of them all:
Thank you, everyone who voted on their favourite color. We are glad so many participated, it was exciting to let you decide what you wanted and watching as you voted for the first time. Magination has taken it’s first step in the open source direction, and we feel that it is in good hands. After counting all your votes, together with backer Jason Hoeft, Magination’s new color is:
We think this will be an excellent addition to the colors we already have. After the campaign has ended you will be able to choose what colors you want, including yellow. How this is done is described in update #2.
Thanks to all of you magnificent backers, we have unlocked yet another stretch goal! We can’t thank you enough. Information about magnets will now be included in the manual. As we know, it can be hard to understand magnetism. If you’ve ever asked the question: “How do they work?” you wouldn’t be the first. We don’t have the final answer here, which this video can explain why. However, we have learned a thing or two about magnets along our way. One of the things we love about Magination is that it can spark a fascination for magnetism and science. In order to help you get a head start on how some of this magic work, we will explain (some of) the science behind the pieces. Some fun facts about magnets and magnetism will be included as well, as fun facts is always fun.
A new slot in our calendar is opened, and a new lucky backer will get some extra pieces with their Magination set. To find out who will attract some more magnets, and take a stroll in our office, check out the video below.
A GIF is also important to include, and we hope it will make your day a little more positive.
Magination got published on Product Hunt yesterday, which is really cool! It would be great if you guys would head over there and vote up Magination. If we get more votes, more people will notice us and we can reach more stretch goals.
One of the reasons for the boost in backers lately was that we got an article on a Norwegian news site, called E24. Norwegian backers can have a look on the article here.
The guys over at Super Nerd Factory likes Magination, and had an interview with us. Check out the article here, or listen to the interview on their podcast Audio Pollution. We link you directly to the part about Magination, but you should totally listen to the entire podcast.
Creaking Shelves have picked Magination as one of their two kickstarters of the week. Have a look at the article here.

Color voting and Christmas surprises

It’s December 1st, and you should tune into some GREAT Christmas music while you read this update.
Here’s a quick summary:
COLOR VOTING: From today on and all the way to December 7th, you’ll be able to vote on the first player-decided Magination-color! We vote right here in the comments on THIS update.
ADVENT CALENDAR: The countdown to the end of the Magination campaign and Christmas has started, and we will open 19 slots in a magnetic calendar! (1st to 18th and one on the 24th)
CHRISTMAS CARD: For those of you that wish to give a special someone a really special gift, we have prepared a Christmas card that you can print, fold and put under the Christmas tree.
Aww yeah, it’s time to use your POWER! The first player-decided Magination-color will be chosen in the next following days, and there are seven lovely colors for you to vote on! We’re doing this the "simple" way, where you cast your vote by adding a single comment ON THIS UPDATE containing only the color you vote for. There is no problem to post a regular comment as well, just make sure that the comment with your color only contains the color name. You can vote one time.
YELLOW - PINK - PURPLE - LIME - BLACK - WHITE
We have been looking forward to share this one with you! Each day towards the 18th, plus an additional day for the 24th, we’ll open a new magnetic slot. Different stuff can hide behind each slot, like a video, a cool update, a GIF, or even special limited Magination pieces for a lucky backer!
We start off our Advent calendar by picking a random backer who wins the Christmas themed Magination set behind slot one. Watch the video to see if you won! The winner will also be contacted directly by us later today.
You can find your backer number by selecting “Backed projects” in the top right menu. Then select the blue plus button next to the Magination project, and you’ll see it (after the ‘#’). We can see all the backer numbers as well, so don’t worry about finding your number unless you really want to know.
Some of you might want to give a Magination set to someone this Christmas, but are lacking something to put under the tree. Worry no more, we have created a magnificent Christmas card that you can print out and give alone, or wrapped into a candy bar or whatever your special person would enjoy.
Now you might want to know how you do just that. We have made a simple card, that contains only the front page, and an advanced card, where you can print the set on the back and fold the card into A5 size.
Simple:
1. Download the simple PDF from this link. A4 is the large version that fill the page and A5 only fill up half the page, so you have to cut or fold the sheet afterwards.
2. Print it out and write something on the back!
3. Wrap the card around a candy bar or put it in an envelope.
Advanced:
1. Download the advanced PDF from this link.
2. Find the pages you want to print. You should want a cover page and a set page that matches your gift, for example page 1 + page 7.
3. Print the two pages you want from the PDF on the same A4 sheet. This is the tricky part. If you have a printer that can print on both sides, just make sure that it prints on both pages and that you have selected the pages you wanted to be printed. Don’t select ‘print all pages’, but select the pages you found in step 2, separated by a comma. If you can’t print on both sides, print the cover first, then put the same sheet into the printer and print the set page. Make sure that you put the sheet back so that it prints correctly!
4. Fold the printed sheet on the middle, and write something about what you are giving this awesome person and how attracted they will be once they get their set!
5. Wrap the card around a candy bar or put it in an envelope, or do something creative.
We will update the card with the new color(s) once the voting is finished, and if you would like to have other PDFs with more sizes, let us know!

On the fifth day of Christmas, Magination gave to me:
Five links to voting
Four happy colors
Three magnetic pieces
Two GIFs of magnets
and an update that you can see!
A little early? Yeah we know but we couldn’t resist… Can you find all five links?
Here's the second GIF, giving a quick introduction on how to play magTENSION:
If this doesn’t attract your Christmas spirit, it might not be magnetic!
Changes to the calendar
It has been a lot of fun sharing our magnetic calendar with all of you, and we hope you’ve enjoyed it as well. Even though we love calendars, we feel like we have been spamming you with our Christmas calendar updates lately. We made this calendar with good intentions, but are afraid it might be too many updates for some of you. Which can make it harder for you to follow updates with all of the other things that are happening for us now. In order to make sure you get quality updates, as well as making it easier for you to following our progress, we have decided to only open our calendar every 3rd day. This way we hope it will feel more special for you. Every time we open a slot, a lucky backer will win something special and a gif will be published.
Also remember to cast your vote for the color you want in the comment section of update #3, if you haven’t done it already.

Today we got a video for you! We had some fun with someone that finally managed to catch the red ‘dot’. Have a look:
REMEMBER: Magnets are fun, not food. Be careful when playing around animals, as they might confuse the pieces with treats.
